Jump.
A function has a jump at a point where its limits from right and left
both exist but do not coincide.
Law of excluded middle.
One of the two: either a statement is true or it is false. There's nothing
in-between. An axiom of 2-valued logic.
Like terms
Terms that have the same variables raised to the same exponent. e.g. 3x2
and -2x2.
Linear equation
An equation whose graph is a line, that is, an equation that has a degree
of one.
e.g. y = 3x - 2
Line of symmetry
A line that divides a figure into two parts, each a mirror image of the
other.
Least Common Multiple,LCM, [a, b]
A number, M, is a common multiple of a set of numbersif each of the numbers
in the set is a divisor of M. Ex.30 is a common multiple of 3 and 5 since
both 3 and 5are divisors of 30. The least common multiple of a setof numbers
is the smallest such number. The leastcommon multiple, LCM of 3 and 5,
is 15 or, [3,5] =15.
Lowest Terms
An expression (ratio or fraction) is said to be in lowestterms if the
greatest common factor, GCF, of the numerator and denominator is one (1).
